Applicants must complete the application procedures for the entrance examination in accordance with the application guidelines.
Q2) What range of materials will the entrance exam cover? How should I prepare for the exam?
The exam will cover material from the following references, as noted in the admission requirements.
Organic chemistry: Vollhardt and Schore, Organic Chemistry (latest published version)
Bioscience and molecular structure: Alberts et al., Essential Cell Biology (latest published version)
You should prepare yourself to answer questions on any material in the above references, for example, by solving the problems in those texts.
The entrance exam is provided entirely in Japanese.
Q3) Under what circumstances will I not be able to enter my first-choice field of study that I indicated on the entrance exam? If I am not admitted into my first-choice field, will I be at a disadvantage depending on what other fields I selected?
If the number of applicants applying for a field as their first choice exceeds the number of students that we can admit into the field, the students’ acceptance into their second- or third-choice fields will be considered, depending on how well they did on the entrance exam.
In that case, you are considered for admittance into your second- or third-choice fields, and you will not be at a disadvantage as long as you obtained a sufficient score on the exam.
Q4) When will I find out whether I got into my first-choice field that I indicated on the entrance exam?
You will be notified of the field to which you have been admitted at the time of the announcement of exam results.
The exam results will be uploaded to the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences homepage. Notifications will also be sent by mail to applicants later.
Q5) If my first- to third-choice fields are in different areas of study, how should I select the subjects on the entrance exam?
For the entrance exam for the 2027 academic year, as long as you satisfy all of the admission requirements, you may choose any subject you like.
For the fundamental subject, you may select and answer one question from either the area of “organic chemistry” or “bioscience and molecular structure”.
For the specialty subject, you may choose to answer any three out of the six questions (three from organic chemistry, three from bioscience and molecular structure).
For the latest subject-selection instructions, please check the entrance-exam guide, which will be sent with your exam admission ticket.
